Kensington, the prolific purveyor of portable peripherals, announced on Tuesday that seven more of its iPhone and iPod touch gadgets have emerged victorious from Apple’s “Works with iPhone/iPod” certification process. New Kensington charging docks, car mounts, and battery packs updated for the iPhone 4 are now available for pre-order.
Among Kensington’s lineup of new accessories are the Charge and Sync Dock and Charging Dock with Mini Battery Pack. Both come in black and serve as dock alternatives, though the latter includes a small portable battery pack. Kensington says that the battery offers up to an extra 3 hours of talk, 6 hours of video, and 30 hours of music time. The regular Charge and Sync Dock is $30, and the version with a battery pack is $70.
The Mini Battery Pack is also available separately with its own retractable USB charging cable for $40. This package includes a clever dock connector protective cover that doubles as a kickstand for watching video.
A new version of Kensington’s Nighstand Charging Dock, updated for the iPhone 4, hops on the “bedside apps” bandwagon. The charger is designed to prop an iPhone or iPod touch in an upright, landscape orientation, ideal for using a bedside alarm clock or music app like Kensington’s Nightstand or its myriad competitors. Like its predecessor, the iPhone-4-optimized Nightstand Charging Dock is $40.
For digital nomads, the Kensington Travel Battery Pack and Charger is a compact charging unit with both a dock connector for charging your iPhone, and a built-in USB plug for cable-free recharging of the pack. For bonus points, the cover over the dock connector flips open to double as a kickstand for watching video. Kensington says that the $70 Travel Battery Pack and Charger offers up to an extra 5 hours of talk, 7 hours of video, and 23 hours of music time.
Also new are the SoundWave Sound Amplifying Car Mount and the Quick Release Car Mount. The SoundWave is $40 and does what it says on the tin: it acoustically amplifies the sound from your iPhone’s speaker, which is ideal for uses like GPS directions or phone calls if you don’t or can’t run your iPhone through your car’s stereo system. The Quick Release is $30 and is a more general purpose mount for iPhone and iPod touch, even if you’re using a case with your device. Both mounts come with windshield and vent mounts.
As mentioned, each of these new accessories is available for pre-order, though Kensington does not specify when they are expected to ship.
