Compact and color-coordinated with the iPad, Arexit's $50 A-Fold stand provides a simple and aesthetically pleasing way to park your tablet at a variety of angles for convenient viewing.
The A-Fold's plastic cradle, with its soft, black-paint finish, has a smooth, but not slippery feel, and it has no sharp edges that might scratch your iPad. The cradle fits both the original iPad and the iPad 2, and the bottom of the cradle is deep enough to accommodate many protective iPad cases, including Apple's Smart Cover—chances are, you won't need to remove your iPad from its case to use the stand. A cutout at the bottom of the cradle allows you to connect Apple's USB-to-dock-connector cable for syncing and charging your tablet. A flip-out pair of support legs, with rubber feet, is attached to the back of the cradle section.
The stand's silver base has four no-slip pads on the bottom and hosts three pairs of slots for placing that flip-out support, offering four angles of iPad elevation—75, 60, 45, and 5 degrees from horizontal—in both portrait and landscape orientation. (You achieve the lowest angle, which positions the iPad almost horizontally to accommodate onscreen typing, by collapsing the support completely and resting the cradle on a short, stationary leg at the top of the cradle.) Because the rubber feet fit securely into their allotted slots, the entire unit is stable enough to type on at any angle without the iPad shaking too much. Despite its small size, the A-Fold is sturdily built and easy to use with an agreeable heft.
You can also pack the A-Fold to go. Just collapse the stand—it weights just 0.7 pounds, and it's approximately 5.8 by 6.6 by 1.4 inches in size when folded—and slide it into its soft, red carrying pouch, and it's ready to travel with you to the office, a presentation, an airplane, or a hotel.
The Arexit A-Fold iPad stand is a sturdy, portable stand that's attractive enough to park on your desk or other areas of your home where you'd like the iPad to be available and presentable. While $50 seems a tad expensive, given its plastic construction, there's something to be said for sophisticated design and usability—if the A-Fold works for you, it may be worth the premium price.
The A-Fold provides a lightweight and easy-to-use way to park your iPad at a variety of angles.
