Snarb.tk has introduced XHub Media Center 2.1, a new version of their home theater software for Mac OS X. A free upgrade for registered users, XHub costs $24.95.
Positioned as an alternative to Apple’s own Front Row software, XHub Media Center is designed to make it easier to use your Mac in conjunction with your home theater system. The software provides a bridge to digital media including movies, videos and photos. It also offers access to Internet radio stations, Web pages and integrates with Elgato’s popular EyeTV Digital Video Recorder (DVR) software.
XHub Media Center works with Salling Clicker, the third-party utility that turns Bluetooth and Wi-Fi-enabled cell phones and PDAs into a remote control for the Mac, and also works with the Apple Remote and remotes from ATI, Keyspan and other manufacturers.
New to the 2.1 version are new slideshow transition styles and photo effects ranging from black and white to sepia, polaroid, digital, cube, mosaic flip and more. The developer has also enhanced the interface, added new graphical themes, and supports user-designed themes using Quartz Composer.
Performance, stability and customizability have been improved in this version, which also lets you adjust menu font size and custom font setting. And the integrated iTunes Cover Flow view is compatible with iTunes 7.3 or later.
