Apple on Thursday released an update for its professional video suite of applications, Final Cut Studio 2.0. According to Apple, Pro Applications Update 2008-01 includes Final Cut Pro 6.0.3 and Compressor 3.0.3.
The Final Cut Pro update resolves five issues including one that would warn that a project was unreadable or too new for that version of Final Cut Pro. A problem with images being scaled when exported has also been fixed — with the update still images are now exported at their native export ratio.
When using multiple filters in a mixed-format sequence, FinalCutPro now correctly uses the aspect ratio of the individual clip and not that of the overall sequence. Version 6.0.3 also includes a fix for reconnecting filenames that contain slashes.
Compressor 3.0.3 includes a couple of fixes that will allow users to create media files for Apple TV with anamorphic (non-square) pixel aspect ratios. Users can now also include Dolby Digital AC-3 audio in files destined for the Apple TV. The H.264 for Apple Devices Encoder pane has a checkbox that allows you to include Dolby Digital AC-3 tracks (with 5.1-channel surround sound) in output media files intended for AppleTV playback.
Pro Applications Update 2008-01 is also recommended for users of Final Cut Server, Logic Studio and Shake. The update is available from Apple’s Web site.
