Storage products maker
has released a new 120GB model of its Cobra+ hard drive. Operating at 7200 RPM and equipped with a FireWire interface, the drive is compatible with Digidesign’s Pro Tools audio software, and is suitable for use in professional and home audio studios, according to the company. The Cobra+ features an average seek time of 8.9 ms and a burst transfer rate of 35MB/s.
EZQuest president Ebrahim Zmehrir noted that his company is one of only two firms whose drives have been tested by Digidesign for use with Pro Tools systems.
“Our product quality and capabilities — and our Pro Tool compatibility — make Cobra+ ideal for the professional music, broadcast, multimedia and film industries — and for home studios as well,” said Zmehrir.
The drive features a stackable architecture and includes Intech’s Hard Disk Speed Tools, which enables the drive to be striped as a level 0 RAID system when used with other identical drives. It sports a light-grey streamlined and shielded case and comes equipped with a built-in universal power supply. A cable is also included.
EZQuest said the Cobra+ is compatible with Mac OS 8.6 and higher. The drive comes with a two-year warranty and is available for a suggested retail price of US$489. Other Cobra+ models are available in capacities from 40GB to 100GB.
