Mac game publisher Aspyr Media announced today plans to publish 4×4 Evolution 2 for the Macintosh. It’s the newest installment of the off-road racing game developed by Terminal Reality, Inc.
The game sports a new mission-based adventure system that has you exploring, rescuing, and competing in off-road challenges in a variety of real-world 4×4-equipped trucks. The game sports more than 120 off-road vehicles. Three new career modes have been added, and as you win races you can customize your truck with more than 90 real-world parts to increase performance, handling and reliability. More than 32 courses are included with locations spread around the world, from the Grand Canyon to a lost Mayan city in a Central American jungle.
4×4 Evo 2 developer Terminal Reality is also responsible for Fly! II, the civilian flight simulator published for the Mac by MacSoft. The previous 4×4 Evo game was published for the Mac by Take Two Interactive Software’s now-defunct subsidiary Gathering of Developers.
Aspyr Media spokesperson Amy Torres said that the game will be shown in Aspyr’s booth at next week’s Macworld Conference & Expo. 4×4 Evo 2 is in the final stages of Mac development and is expected to go into duplication at the end of the month.
4×4 Evo 2 is rated E for Everyone by the ESRB. The software is currently available for pre-order from Aspyr’s Web site and carries a retail price of US$39.95. System requirements are pending.
