PDA maker Handspring Inc. announced that it has inked a deal with British mobile phone company mmO2 Plc to distribute Handspring’s line of Treo products in Europe.
First introduced last October, the Treo is a mobile phone, pager and PDA integrated into one unit. The device leverages Palm OS-based technology that Handspring licenses from Palm, Inc. to function. mmO2 plans to launch the Treo wireless communication devices on its GSM networks this month.
Handspring said that mmO2 would launch Treo over various European networks over the next quarter, including the Netherlands’ Telfort, Britain’s BTCellnet, Germany’s Viag and Ireland’s Digiphone.
Handspring is yet to announce any carrier deals in the United States.
