Berkhan Software has announced the release of
version 7.1. The new version of the programming language for Power Macs is available directly from the company.
Changes in version 7.1 include:
‘Symbol list’ function that displays in a window all symbols used in a program; symbols can be sorted according to different criteria. A ‘Tokenize New’ function has been implemented, too.
Two levels of ‘Undo’ functionality. The first level undoes only changes within the current program line; the second level reverses changes extending across several program lines.
‘Library’ command. Instructs the compiler to automatically add required libraries. The ‘Sort’ command has been expanded to enable you to indicate a start index from which to begin sorting.
Bugs and problems with previous betas have been corrected.
Omikron Basic 7.1 works with Mac OS 8.1 and higher. It runs in Mac OS X’s Classic environment right now, but the company indicated that a native Mac OS X version is currently in development.
Omikron Basic 7.1 is available for US$47 for the academic download version. The Pro version costs $143 and is shipped on CD. Registered users of Omikron Basic 7 can upgrade for free; Omikron Basic 6 users can upgrade at a discount.
