ComGrafix Inc. today announced that it has made
RagTime available for free, for private non-commercial use.
RagTime, developed by RagTime GmbH, is a suite of business publishing applications that combine word processing, spreadsheet, pictures, drawing, charting and slideshows. The software started life on the Mac and is now available for both Mac OS and Windows. The new package is being distributed as RagTime Solo and can be downloaded online.
The company noted that RagTime Solo’s principal difference to its commercial counterpart is a dialog box that appears when first booting the program. The window asks the user to acknowledge that RagTime Solo is to be used for non-commercial purposes only.
According to ComGrafix, features in RagTime Solo include: Seamless integration, drawing elements double as containers for all the above components SlideTime module can create automated slide presentations with motion Dual editing of modules in layout mode or separate window by double clicking the module in the Inventory Calculation function available in tables, text, graphs and drawing text RagTime component, including drawings can be placed in all types of frames and spreadsheet cells Unlimited rotation, scaling and cropping of all drawn objects and their contents Common style sheets for fonts, paragraphs, lines and fills in all components Dynamic links between tables and graphs via Drag and Drop on the page layout Identical document formats under Windows and Mac OS Layouts with master pages and pipelines Import and export for Word 97/98/2000, Excel 97/98/2000, RTF, SYLK, XTND, JPEG, EPSF, WMF, EMF, BMP, PICT, and Text (Mac, DOS, Windows and UNICODE)
RagTime Solo’s system requirements call for Mac OS 8.6 or higher, 64MB RAM, 75MB available hard disk space. The software is not yet native to Mac OS X, but it does run in Classic.
