Synchro Arts Ltd. recently launched VocALign Project for the Digidesign Pro Tools system, an entry-level version of the VocALign automatic audio alignment software, now available for US$299. VocALign, which is compatible with the classic Mac environment (but isn’t yet Mac OS X native) is being shown at this week’s NAMM show.
NAMM is the International Music Products Association. Pro Tools is the sound editing and manipulation program from Digidesign.
VocALign Project is designed to satisfy the huge demand for a more affordable base version of VocALign, making it available for the widest possible range of projects and applications, including independent musicians, project studios and DJs, according to Henrik Kjaer, Synchro Arts’ director of sales and marketing. VocALign Project incorporates the full range of VocALign facilities, and a new Web-based authorization scheme. It can be used on both Mac and Windows platforms as a fully integrated Pro Tools AudioSuite plug-in.
First launched in 1995, VocALign is used by postproduction and music professionals to tackle audio synchronization tasks. The software works by automatically “micro-editing” the new or replacement audio signal, to align the timing of its modulations to match that of a guide signal.
