Mac OS X software devotees The Omni Group have announced the release of OmniGraffle 2.0 Beta, a major new revision to their OS X diagramming and charting application.
New features introduced in the public beta release include support for AppleScript, URL links to graphics, support for layers, a multitude of new tools, shape enhancements, line ending enhancements, export to HTML, grid enhancements, auto layout improvements, a magnet editor, OmniOutliner import preferences, and tons of bug fixes, code changes and other enhancements.
OmniGraffle 2.0 Beta can be downloaded from the OmniGraffle Web page. A downloadable PDF version of the OmniGraffle manual is available from that location, as well.
OmniGraffle 2.0 is being offered as a free upgrade for registered OmniGraffle 1.x users. Omni Group president Wil Shipley noted that the upgrade will also be free to Power Mac G4 and PowerBook G4 users who have purchased systems with OmniGraffle bundled on them (those systems have been in circulation since January 7th).
“Your old license key will still work with OmniGraffle 2.0, so you just need to download the new version from us and you’re set to start playing with all the great stuff we added,” said Shipley.
OmniGraffle costs US$59.95, and licenses purchased now from the Omni Store can be used for either version 1.x or 2.x. OmniGraffle requires Mac OS X 10.1 or later.
