To help give Mac users in the UK and Ireland a leg up adopting Mac OS X, Apple is sponsoring a series of Mac OS X Roadshow events in cities throughout the area through next month. The events showcase the operating system itself, along with key third-party OS X-compatible applications.
Apple reps will be on hand to demonstrate Mac OS X and the latest Apple hardware and software — iTunes 2, iPhoto, iDVD 2 and Final Cut Pro 3 will all be featured. Following the morning session, Apple will present a “Ten on X” presentation, where companies Apple describes as “a selection of [its] key partners” will demo native applications running on Mac OS X.
That’s followed by an afternoon session where attendees divide into a half dozen smaller groups for hands-on seminars. Six themes will be presented: Audio, Digital Imaging, Design and Publishing, Small and Medium Business and Video and Web Publishing.
Apple advised that each of those hour-long seminars would be repeated three times during the afternoon, so you’ll have opportunities to attend multiple sessions throughout the day.
Also, a “Market Trading” area will provide a spot for participating vendors, training providers, finance companies and Apple resellers to assist you directly. Dennis Publishing, publishers of MacUser UK, will be on hand with their MacUser Helpdesk, as well.
The Mac OS X Roadshow gets started next week for two days in London. Cities on the tour include Manchester, Dublin, Bradford, Cardiff, Bristol, Oxford and Brighton; the tour wraps up at the end of February in Edinburgh.
Best of all, the event is free. All you have to do is register to save a place for yourself.
