FontDoctor, Morrison SoftDesign’s tool for diagnosing font problems and repair errors, has added support for Mac OS X with the newest version (5.0). The update is also purportedly up to eight times faster, adds a Font Conversion feature to convert between font formats and adds support for Apple’s new DataFork font (.dfont) format.
FontDoctor supports TrueType (both Mac and Windows versions), PostScript Type 1, PostScript Type 3, Multiple Master fonts, OpenType fonts, DataFork fonts and bitmap fonts. It offers repair methods for damaged font tables, font ID conflicts, duplicate fonts, extra font sizes, mixed font types, missing bitmaps & PostScript fonts and more.
The cost is US$69.99. FontDoctor can be downloaded from the
Morrison Web site. Owners of earlier versions can upgrade to version 5.0 for free.
