The New York DV Show is shaping up to be this year’s largest gathering of Final Cut Pro users and gurus in North America, and the Los Angeles Final Cut Pro User Group (lafcpug) is going to be there. lafcpug will be meeting Feb 12 at 7:15 p.m. at the New Yorker Hotel, site of the expo.
“This isn’t going to be a West Coast meeting ported to the East,” Michael Horton, president of lafcpug, told MacCentral. “This is going to be a East Coast meeting worthy of New York. This is going to be largest FCP user group meeting ever assembled on the East Coast and certainly the biggest gathering of FCP users and gurus assembled in one room during this entire event. And it’s free.”
Tom Wolsky, author of “Final Cut Pro 2 Editing Workshop,” will be demoing offline RT in FCP 3.0. Digital video guru Cawan Starks will serve up the New York premiere of the KONA-SD 10 bit, RT uncompressed video capture card from AJA. Volume 2 of the CGM filters and transitions for FCP from developer Klaus Eiperle will have its world premiere. In fact, Eiperle will fly in from his home in Germany to show ’em off.
Oscar winning Editor Loren Miller, author of the FCP Keyboard Keychart will present “10 keyboard shortcuts guaranteed to cut hours off your editing time.” There’ll also be show-and-tells from East Coast filmmakers, Maggie Hadleigh-West, Josh Apter, Daniel Berube (head of the Boston FCP UG ), and Scott Prendergast (head of the New York FCP UG ).
What’s more, award-winning editor Zak Tucker, Kevin Messman from the Edit Center, and Ralph Fairweather — an original member of the FCP team and former producer at 2-Pop will be on hand to answer FCP troubleshooting question.
Seats are limited for the event, and you have to register. For more info go to the lafcpug Web site.
