Thursday we reported that Gold Country Tech Group, a Mac only rental business, is seeing business boom. The company is also doing a test with Mactivity, the producers of the QuickTime Live! show, according to Arne Gallagher, owner and founder of Gold County.
QuickTime Live! 2002 will be held Feb. 11-14 at the Beverly Hills Hotel in Beverly Hills, CA. The conference will feature keynotes, full-day workshops, breakout sessions and a product showcase featuring the latest development tools based on QuickTime technology.
At the shindig, the Beverly Hills Hilton will have AirPort networking (just like last year) and Gold Country is offering attendees the ability to rent iBooks or PowerBooks while they attend the show. They can cruise the Internet at their leisure, look online at examples discussed by presenters, take notes and then burn off any notes or examples to CD with the built-in CD-RW drive.
“This is a test to gauge the acceptance of the audience, but it could lead to providing this service at the upcoming World Wide Developer Conference show [in May] and, in some form, the upcoming Macworld New York show this summer [in July],” Gallagher told MacCentral. “For Macworld, it would probably be offered to a select audience, like the press.”
