Mergers, services outages, network transitions. It’s been a trying few months for users of AT&T Broadband’s high-speed Internet access and the changes continue. To reward its customers for their patience, AT&T Broadband recently distributed a “thank you” letter directing them to a special Web page where they could redeem discounts on specific software and products. Unfortunately, Mac users are only eligible for part of the deal.
“We want to thank you for your continued business as an AT&T Broadband Internet customer during this time of change and improvements,” said the company. “In appreciation of your continued loyalty, we are pleased to offer you two special gifts.”
The company is offering users a US$10 gift certificate to shop online at eBags.com, a Web site that specializes in handbags, computer cases, briefcases, wallets and other accessories.
AT&T Broadband is also offering users $140 in free gaming downloads from Real Networks. There’s only one catch: Real Networks’ gaming service only works on Windows PCs.
Company spokesman Andrew Johnson acknowledged the issue during an interview with MacCentral earlier today. “Understanding that the majority of our users are Windows-based, we wanted to get something to them as soon as we could,” he said.
“There certainly might be an appropriate ‘Thank You’ for Mac customers,” Johnson continued, although he said he wasn’t “aware of anything close to getting finalized on that.”
