Beehive Software would like to see FTP (File Transfer Protocol), the old Internet standard for file transfer, replaced with “Beehive Https,” a SSL-secure file transfer client available for both Mac and Windows. It’s another piece of the Beehive file transfer framework designed to bring reliable, secure, file transfer solutions to the graphic arts, newspaper and engineering reprographics industries.
Beehive Https is built to replace FTP servers with “special Beehive, secure, Apache Web servers.” The folks at Beehive Software said its proxy server is tolerant; in other words, there are no more blocked file transfers at corporate firewalls. Beehive Https uses SSL for secure file transmission and utilizes the Apache Web server as the file server. It has built-in, streaming file compression, so you don’t have to pre-compress files.
