Pinnacle Systems, which specializes in digital video broadcast and production solutions, has certified the HugeMediaVault-1000DualMax disk array from Huge Systems for their HD-RT and SD television products. The systems have also been certified for use with Macs by Apple and with all Matrox graphics cards.
The HugeMediaVault is an entry level RAID 0 only Disk Array. It uses four disks in a compact desktop enclosure with a single U160 SCSI channel interface for a sustained date rate of 80 MB/Second, more than enough for 2 uncompressed SD streams, according to the company. Features include built-in diagnostics and on board data replication tools.
The Max family uses a single U160 channel for a sustained date rate of 100MB/Second; the DualMax family provides a sustained data rate of 200MB/Second. The RaIDE Cart is a user removable cartridge IDE Disk Array that uses a single U160 SCSI channel and four removable cartridges. Both capacity and system performance is scaleable based on the number of drives installed.
Huge Systems now supports 120GB drives. Also, the company has introduced two new products using 120GB IDE drives: the US$5,641 HugeMediaVault-600-Max, which has an upper end capacity of eight hours, and the $11,080 HugeMediaVault-1200-DualMax $11,080, which has an upper end capacity of 16 hours.
