If you’re an educator in the UK, you may be interested in a new offering from Sherston Software. The company has announced the release of a new CD-ROM called The Model Shop. The CD-ROM has been developed to cover all Key Stage 2 National Curriculum requirements and Scottish Guidelines for computer modelling. The title is suitable for kids ages 8 to 13.
Sherston Software explained that the Model Shop has been developed with whole-class, group and individual use all taken into consideration. The software can be used either “as a linear adventure or as a set of separate activities.”
The Model Shop is comprised of eight interactive computer models with three levels of difficulty. The software helps kids develop ICT capabilities and constructive thinking skills. The models themselves including ball throwing, paint mixing, spreadsheets, plat growing, classroom design, traffic lights and sandwich making.
The Model Shop includes a Teacher Options section, and incorporates fully narrated help as well. The CD-ROM also comes with support sheets and teacher’s notes.
Available as on hybrid CD-ROM compatible with both Windows and Mac OS, the Model Shop is priced at £59.95 (excluding VAT). Multi-user packs are also available.
