Boston now has its own user group dedicated to Final Cut Pro (FCP), Apple’s professional digital video editing application. The Boston Final Cut Pro User Group, or BOSFCPUG, has announced its formation.
The user group, which is officially recognized by Apple’s own User Group Program, kicks off this week with a meeting on Wednesday, February 6, from 5 to 8 pm. It takes place at the Boston Apple Market Center located at 28 State Street in Boston, MA.
The first meeting will feature Final Cut Pro expert Philip Hodgetts of Intelligent Assistance, who will show off new features in FCP 3 and share tips and techniques. Hodgetts will have the newly updated Final Cut Pro 3 Companion on hand as well. Tim Wilson of Boris FX will show off new titling features with Boris in FCP 3. Representatives for Canon USA will also be on hand to show off CanonDV products, which work with FCP and the Mac.
Members are also encouraged to show excerpts from their latest projects during an “Open Screen” segment.
The meeting will also feature a raffle where attendees can win giveaways like software, hardware, training and other goodies related to Final Cut Pro.
BOSFCPUG is also joining forces with FCP user groups from Los Angeles and New York City at the New York DV Show, which happens later this month in New York. The user groups are coordinating a special event to be held at the New Yorker Hotel on February 12.
Attendance is free to those who register. Visit the BOSFCPUG Web site for details.
