Other World Computing today introduced the new Mercury On-The-Go 60GB hard drive. The 2.5″ drive is being billed as the largest portable FireWire external storage solution available on the market.
Inside the Mercury’s chassis lies a 60GB IBM Travelstar drive and Oxford Semiconductor’s ubiquitous Oxford 911 FireWire bridge chip. OWC said the new drive weighs less than 11 ounces and fits in the palm of your hand.
The drive joins other Mercury On-The-Go products already in distribution. Twenty, 30 and 40GB drives are already shipping which run at 4200 RPM. Twenty, 48 and now 60GB drives are available too, with speeds of 5400 RPM. The drives are priced from $199.97
The Mercury On-The-Go 60GB drive is available for US$639.97. It includes a one-year warranty.
