There’s a new book by author John Holland designed to help creative professionals transition to Mac OS X.
“Mac OS X for Creative Professionals” is targeted to graphic designers, artists, producers and creative managers of print and digital media. Contents include: system basics; the new Desktop & Finder; UNIX basics; installation strategy; upgrading critical software from Adobe, Quark, Macromedia, and more; software & hardware compatibility; fonts and font management; networking, file sharing, and security; printing and digital output; and links to several Internet resources.
The book is published in PDF format. “Mac OS X for Creative Professionals” sells for US$49.99, but, for a limited time, can be pre-ordered for $39.99 from the Web site.
Holland has over 10 years of experience using the Mac. Recently, he was a featured author in “Mastering Web Design.” Holland founded MacPeople, a San Francisco Bay Area staffing agency specializing in creative professionals. Currently, he’s president of Newstrategy, a consulting and publishing company based in the San Francisco Bay Area.
