ADT Data Consulting has updated Speed Download, its utility for speeding up download times when you’re online, to version 1.8fc2, offering improved proxy support and integration with control panel settings, better FTP proxy code and support for more URLs.
The update also adds an option to bring Speed Download automatically to the front when downloading begins. The transfer log has been enhanced so you can now copy from it; a percentage column has been added to the view options; there’s now long file name support under Mac OS Classic and Mac OS X; and Speed Download 1.8fc2 also sports better floater responsiveness and positioning, according to Tony Yazbeck of ADT.
Speed Download offers multithreading so you can go online and download as many files as you want, simultaneously. It works with Internet Explorer, Netscape and Opera Web browsers (with more browser support coming soon).
It costs US$20. The new version is free to registered users, however. For more info or to download go to the product Web site.
