A new version (1.0.6) of Super Get Info, the file and folder info utility for Mac OS X, is now available from Bare Bones Software.
It offers a new contextual menu plug-in called “Bare Bones Open With” that gives users the ability to open files with the application of their choice via a contextual menu. Super Get Info also now displays the total size of files in addition to data and resource fork sizes and provides Type and Creator Favorites pop-up menus in the Info panel.
Super Get Info, which requires Mac OS X 10.0 or later (OS X 10.1 or later is recommended and is required for the Finder keyboard shortcut and Dock menu integration), lets you open a separate info window for each selected Finder item, so that multiple selected items can be viewed and edited discretely. It also lets you view and edit the Mac OS type and creator codes for a given file; view and edit the Unix owner, group and permission settings for any file or folder; and change a file’s creation and modification dates.
The cost is US$20. However, you can download a fully-functional demo version that’s good for 14 days. Registered users of Super Get Info may upgrade free of charge to version 1.0.6 by downloading the update package.
