Mac game publisher MacPlay announced today that its Mac conversion of the 3D adventure game realMYST is now in beta testing and is scheduled to ship to retail stores in early March. The company announced less than a month ago that it would publish the long-awaited Mac version of the game originally published for the PC by Ubi Soft.
Myst is the legendary 3D adventure puzzle game developed by Cyan. Originally a point and click adventure comprised of small animated puzzles embedded within still images, Myst is one of the most popular computer games ever published. It spawned two sequels and a slew of related fiction and other content.
Most recently, Cyan created realMYST — the original story presented using a real-time 3D graphics engine as it was originally intended, free of the technological restrictions of the time. You can explore the world of Myst with 360 degrees of freedom in a dynamic environment where night shifts into day and weather goes from sun to rain.
MacPlay is offering a pre-order price of US$29.99 for customers who order now; orders within the U.S. will receive free shipping and handling.
MacPlay is a wholly owned subsidiary of United Developers, LLC. The company publishes games for the Mac including Aliens vs. Predator Gold Edition, Majesty, Sacrifice, and Giants: Citizen Kabuto.
