Electronics For Imaging (EFI), specialists in software and hardware imaging solutions for network printing, is now shipping their eBeam System 3 digital whiteboard appliance.
The Mac-compatible eBeam System is a digital whiteboard appliance that works with existing whiteboards and other writing surfaces to capture meeting notes and diagrams as they’re created. Information is viewed, saved, edited, shared, and printed. Notes and diagrams can also be broadcast over the Internet.
The entire system — consisting of a palm-sized receiver, pen sleeves, standard dry-erase pens, and an eraser — weights just five ounces. There’s a bracket for optional permanent installations. The eBeam System 3 hardware is now available in both serial and USB versions.
The eBeam System software supports synchronization of eBeam meeting files saved on Palm OS devices. The software also includes the eBeam Mouse application, which works with a digital projector to turn the display area into a virtual touchscreen. The eBeam software is available in English, French, German, Spanish and Italian and Japanese. The software runs on Mac OS 9, though there’s no native Mac OS X version.
The eBeam System 3 digital whiteboard appliance has a manufacturers suggested retail price of US$749 for the USB version.
