Disney Interactive has announced the release of a software tie-in to the new Walt Disney Pictures animated feature “Return to Never Land.” It’s a flying adventure game made especially for girls, according to the company, entitled “Disney’s You Can Fly! With Tinker Bell.”
Developed for kids ages six and up, the title puts kids in the world of Disney’s beloved animated character Peter Pan and his pal Tinker Bell as players help Tinker Bell try to find Captain Hook’s lost treasure. The game sports 16 mini-games in six different locations: London, the Lost Boys Hideout, Indian Village, Skull Rock, Mermaid Cove and Starry Skies.
In each location, kids play three different games: Challenge, Location Flying and Treasure Map Piece. Players must win the first two games in order to get to the Treasure Map Piece; sections of the Treasure Map are collected to help locate the treasure. There’s one final challenge, too. The game sports three levels of difficulty to help keep up the challenge, too.
“Return to Never Land” is a new animated movie that picks up the tale of Peter Pan with Wendy as a mom herself, full of tales about Peter Pan for her own kids. Her headstrong 12 year old daughter Jane thinks it’s the stuff of nonsense, though, even after she’s taken by the vile Captain Hook to lure Peter Pan into a trap. Peter, Tinker Bell and the Lost Boys come to the rescue.
“Disney’s You Can Fly! With Tinker Bell!” ships on February 18th on hybrid CD-ROM, compatible with various flavors of Windows as well as Mac OS and Mac OS X. The software carries a suggested retail price of US$19.99.
