Confirming news that MacCentral first brought readers earlier this week, Aspyr Media today indicated that it’s shipping 4×4 Evolution 2, a new off-road racing game for the Macintosh.

The game was developed by Terminal Reality, Inc. and has been Carbonized to run natively on both Mac OS 9.1 and Mac OS X.
The game features a total of more than 120 different real-world off-road vehicles, and more than 125 performance upgrades to tune their capabilities, like performance shocks, race tires and brush guards. Players race on 32 different courses that span the globe. And if straight-up racing bores you after a while, there’s an adventure mode where you can search for ancient runs and lost treasure.
4×4 Evolution 2 is rated “E” for everyone by the ESRB and carries a suggested retail price of US$39.95. System requirements for 4×4 Evo 2 call for a 450MHz or faster G3 or G4; Mac OS 9.1 or higher (including Mac OS X); 128MB RAM; RAGE 128 or better hardware 3D graphics acceleration; 8x CD-ROM.
