After installing Mac OS X 10.1, some users have noticed a problem that prevents them from adding to the contents of their Applications folder. They receive an error message which reads,
“The item ‘filename’ could not be moved because ‘Applications’ cannot be modified.”
This problem has been readily acknowledged by Apple through the publication of an AppleCare KnowledgeBase document. A small application called, appropriated enough, “FixApplicationsFolderPermissions” is now available which will correct the problem.
The 52K application can be downloaded from the AppleCare KnowledgeBase document, at the link above.
