Vista Systems has announced an update to RenderBoy, their shareware solid modeler and ray-tracing renderer for Macs. The new version, 2.3.1, is ready for download from the Web site.
RenderBoy enables users to model and render 3D images and animations, incorporating details like shadows, reflections, refractions, textures and more.
The new version of RenderBoy sports better support for DXF geometry (a feature first introduced in the last revision, 2.3.0), and can render DXF images 2 to 5 times faster.
RenderBoy works on both PowerPC and 68K-based Macs, and works with Mac OS 7.0 or higher (and in Mac OS X as a “Classic” application). Registration costs US$39, and covers all future versions for free, according to Vista Systems.
