TC PowerCore 01 is now available to registered PowerCore users as a free download from TC Works, developers and marketers of professional audio software.
PowerCore 1.5 is the open DSP (Digital Signal Processing) hardware platform for any VST or MAS recording application on Macs and PCs. It introduced the “PowerCore Instruments” format, allowing virtual instruments to access the processing power of the card. TC PowerCore 01 is the first of a new kind of virtual instrument Plug-In, interfacing with VST, but running the DSP code on the card, according to TC spokesperson Claudia Steffens
TC PowerCore 01 is a monophonic synthesizer for the TC PowerCore, which is modeled after the classic analog monosynth. It comes with more than 100 presets, and is “great” for fat bass, wicked leads, sound FX, even percussion, Steffens said.
As an open platform, TC PowerCore supports third party enhancements. For instance, the WALDORF D-Coder goes beyond classic Vocoder concepts and is based on the synthesis and DSP technology used in the Waldorf Q and MicroQ synthesizers, now made accessible to TC PowerCore users from inside any VST-compatible sequencer. Currently evaluating the platform, ACCESS will be providing PowerCore users with a virtual synth for the PowerCore later this year.
PowerCore 01 requires TC PowerCore, TC PowerCore Software 1.5 (also available as free download), and a VST Instrument compatible sequencer application such as Logic, Cubase or Nuendo.
