Disney is accepting nominations for their American Teacher Awards now through March 3. Out of these awards, three special teachers will be selected as Disney Honorees. They’ll receive US$10,000 and their schools receive $5,000.
Disney’s American Teacher Awards, now in its 12th year, was developed to honor outstanding members of the teaching profession “whose talent, commitment and creativity have a profound and lasting impact on our children and society.” Last year students, parents, educators and community members from across the U.S. nominated 111,000 teachers for the award, and 20,000 nominees submitted applications. Thirty-five Honorees were chosen by a selection committee, and awards totaling $515,000 were given to the teachers and their schools and districts.
