Lanier Worldwide — the folks who make digital copiers, printers and scanners — has rolled out its Mac compatible Lanier 5618 Digital Copier/Printer/Fax System, a multifunction solution that delivers simplex and duplex output.
It offers automatic duplexing with optional network printing and faxing in a compact design that workgroup-friendly, according to Dominic Pontrelli, vice president of marketing for Lanier. The Lanier 5618 produces up to 18 single-sided or 15 dual-sided digital copies per minute at 600 dpi. There’s also a 6.9 second first-copy time, electronic sorting that eliminates manual collating, an optional Reversing Automatic Document Feeder and one or two optional 500-sheet paper banks. The system also has separate toner, developer and drum units.
As a network printer, the 5618 produces 18 pages per minute, with single- and dual-sided print capabilities. As a fax system, the 5618 features a 33.6 Kbps modem for fast transmission and lower long-distance charges, a 1.2 second per page scan speed, plus 32 one-touch keys and 100 abbreviated codes.
Although Lanier says the 5618 is available immediately, they haven’t released any info on pricing. Also, they don’t specify whether the drivers are compatible with the traditional Mac operating system, Mac OS X or both.
