Hewlett-Packard has drastically fattened up its all-in-one product line by rolling out several all-in-one solutions that combine a printer, fax, scanner and copier into one compact, flatbed device.
The new HP Officejet d series all-in-ones are compatible with Mac OS 9.x and above, including Mac OS X and offer superior printing, simple sharing with networking options, and expanded digital imaging capabilities. The new product line is targeted to small and home office professionals who want to control costs and/or save space, George Brashear of HP told MacCentral.
“HP created the all-in-one market about six years ago and are the leader, with over 60 percent of the market,” Brashear said. “With the Officejet d series, we extend — or reclaim, as some of our competitors might argue — our technology leadership.
New to this generation of HP Officejet all-in-ones is an intelligent printing system that delivers fast print speeds of up to 19 pages per minute (ppm) in black and up to 16 ppm in color. Users can create presentation and marketing materials with color photo-quality printing at up to 2400-dots-per-inch (dpi) resolution on premium photo papers and black text printing at 1200 x 600-dpi. What’s more, some models feature digital camera memory card slots and HP’s exclusive Photo Proof Sheet feature. The latter makes it possible to print digital photos without going through your Mac.
This is the industry’s first line of inkjet all-in-ones to offer a legal-sized (8.5 x 14-inches) scan and copy surface area with an automatic document feeder included, Brashear said. Plus, they’re the first all-in-ones able to copy automatically on both sides of letter-sized paper, he added.
The HP Officejet d series come equipped with a 33.6 kilobytes-per-second fax modem — though this isn’t included with the HP Officejet d125xi all-in-one — and one touch copying. They can handle color scanning of up to1200 x 4800-dpi, 9600-dpi enhanced and 48-bit color. A 50-page automatic document feeder provides hands-free faxing, copying and scanning of multi-page documents. Copy speeds go up to 18 copies per minute (cpm) in black and 16 cpm in color.
You have access to two-sided letter-sized printing and copying (optional with the HP Officejet d135/xi). Up to 400 sheets of input paper is possible with an optional 250-sheet plain paper tray included with the HP Officejet d125xi and d155xi. And there’s collation for copy and print jobs included on the HP Officejet d155xi).
