ArcSoft has announced the release of new versions of its PhotoStudio, PhotoImpression and Panorama Maker software applications.
Enhanced features in PhotoStudio 5.0 include 48-bit image support, multi-photo scanning and auto-cropping, file importation and saving to and from removable media, batch file conversion and naming, and the addition of a new “Magic Cut” tool, which simplifies the creation, copying and pasting of transparent images.
PhotoImpression 4.0 has also been released. It’s a streamlined version of PhotoStudio that provides a more basic set of photo managing and editing features as its full-blown cousin. The new version of PhotoImpression sports image and page printing capabilities, auto crop and rotation functions, advanced text editing, an “Explorer” view suitable for image browsing and previewing, and wallpaper and screensaver capabilities.
Finally, Panorama Maker 3.0 is also now available. The software converts a series of photos into seamless panoramic images, culled from TWAIN-compliant devices like scanners or from files stored on fixed or removable media. Users drag and drop photos onto the Storyboard, and Panorama Maker automatically matches the overlapping areas of each photo to stitch them together.
Panorama Maker 3.0 includes the ability to create horizontal or vertical panoramas, “tile-style” panoramas and 360-degree panoramas. The software saves its files in popular image file formats, like JPEG, BMP and TIF, and can also save to HTML and QuickTime for Web-based display.
All of the software runs natively in Mac OS 8.6 or higher including Mac OS X. The three ArcSoft apps are intended for OEM licensees who will bundle ArcSoft’s software with their own camera, scanner, printer or consumable products, rather than for direct retail sale.
