Quantum Corp. today announced that its Snap Server 4100 is now available in increased storage capacities. The company also introduced a new version of its Snap Operating System (Snap OS), which features Mac OS X 10.1.2 support, among other enhancements.
The Snap Server 4100 is a RAID 5 storage system that occupies one rack unit (1U) of space in a standard equipment rack. The system is now available in 240GB, 320GB and 480GB capacities with prices at US$2,499, $2,999 and $4,299 respectively.
Snap OS version 3.4 now sports increased functionality in environments that utilize Microsoft’s Windows 2000 Active Directory features, according to Quantum. The new operating system also features UNIX NFS group-level security and management, and supports Mac OS X version 10.1.2. Quantum also noted that Snap OS 3.4 now offers Java compatibility, enabling users to run Java-based applications.
Snap OS 3.4 is available across the entire Snap Server product line, and is compatible with the Snap Server 1000, 2000 and 4000 models. It’s available as a free upgrade to all registered users, as well.
