A public beta for SnapTalk 3 chat and file transfer software, is now available from Glass Bead Software. The beta is the first release of SnapTalk for Mac OS X. Since it’s Carbonized, it’s compatible with existing Mac OS 8 or later.
The product lets you talk “instantly” with anyone in your office. A SnapTalk pop-up window notifies you of incoming talk requests. The app finds all the other users on your network and puts them in a list for you to choose from. You can also set SnapMail to speak incoming messages aloud. If you are busy or their message can be answered with a “Yes,” “No” or “Thanks.” Or you can snap them off an auto-reply with a single button-click.
Mac users can preview SnapTalk 3 at the Glass Bead Web site. The final version is due early next month.
SnapTalk 3 enables two-way chat over a LAN or the Internet. The software also offers archiving features, and encrypted, secure, messaging. It also has a drag-and-drop file transfer system, which automatically compresses files before they’re sent, for faster transfers.
