Aurora Video Systems Inc. has announced that it has added “a new proprietary method” for RGB processing to its Igniter and IgniterRT, Macintosh-compatible video editing cards. The new technology is called “Adaptive Image Control.”
Aurora Video Systems president Darryl Hock explained that Adaptive Image Control enables Igniter hardware products to achieve what he called “outstanding results” in RGB-based applications like Adobe After Effects and Premiere, while still working natively with the YUV color space used in applications like Apple’s own Final Cut Pro software.
Adaptive Image Control is purported to correct contouring and artifacts caused by rounding errors and approximations by anticipating, sensing and removing introduced errors from RGB to video conversions. The software works with MJPEG-A, variable offline compression, and full, uncompressed online formats, according to Aurora Video Systems.
Adaptive Image Control is offered as a driver and firmware download from Aurora’s Web site.
