ProVUE has announced the release of Panorama iPod Organizer, a database utility that enables your iPod to display information rather than just play music or store files. The new software is ready for purchase and download from ProVUE’s Web site.
First introduced to crowds at Macworld Expo in San Francisco this past January, Panorama iPod Organizer enables users to utilize the iPod as a data organizer. The software can store data like phone numbers, e-mail address, flight numbers, appointment times or anything else that will fit into the data field of an iPod. Users can customize categories and import data from other database and contact management software.
The software doesn’t work by hacking the software on the iPod at all — instead, it turns the data into tiny iTunes-compatible MP3 files — the files are silent, but the artist and track field information contain the data. ProVUE noted that the Panorama iPod Organizer keeps info very compact — 1,000 contact records use less than 0.1 percent of the space on the iPod’s hard drive, according to the developers.
