Due to the festivities surrounding the mall opening today many of the areas around the mall were closed off, preventing people from lining up for Apple’s opening. Barriers didn’t stop a few determined Apple fans from finding a way in to their rightful place in front of Apple’s doors, Arman Assa, Campus Representative at North Carolina State University, told MacCentral.
Not surprisingly, the iMac was the hit of the day for many of the people visiting the store. In fact, the first two people in the door walked up to the counter and purchased an iMac each.
Even though the store hasn’t had its official grand opening, hundreds of people walked through the doors to get a look at the new iMac, iPod and Apple’s newest line of Desktop computers.
You just never know who you will see at an Apple Store opening; a friend, colleague, a celebrity or even a giant squirrel and a lion. Apparently the draw of the iMac was just too much to resist for two mascots attending the malls opening day ceremonies — shoppers at the Apple store looked on with curiosity and laughter as the giant squirrel and lion had their turn on Apple’s newest consumer machine.
Apple will officially open the store tomorrow morning. As is custom at the store openings, commemorative t-shirts will be given out while supplies last.
