Formac’s Gallery 1740 is a 17.4-inch LCD display with native SXGA (1,280 x 1,024 pixel) resolution. Formac offers the 1740 with an Apple Display Connector (ADC) cable — one that combines digital video, power and USB all into one connector, as Apple’s own displays do. The company also offers the Gallery 1740 with a Digital Visual Interface (DVI) connector to attach to older Apple cards and to third-party video cards as well.
The Spyder itself is a colorimeter designed for LCD flat panel displays like the Gallery 1740. The unit utilizes seven sensors and seven long pass filters, and it comes with an accessory that enables it to be gently placed on the LCD monitor without damaging or marking the display. The Spyder ships with a modified version of the PhotoCal monitor calibration software.
the Gallery 1740/Spider bundle costs US$1,149 for the ADC version, $1,199 for the DVI version. More details are available from Formac’s Web site.
