Escape Velocity Nova is the latest in a series of original and immersive games that mix elements of arcade-style action, role-playing adventure and trading. You pilot a starship and you must earn money to improve your vessel and trade it up to larger and better-equipped ships. The missions you accept and the cargo or passengers you carry have an affect on the storyline, as well.
Players familiar with previous installments of Escape Velocity games will have a huge new universe to explore, along with what Ambrosia describes as “a number of major plotlines (and scads of minor plotlines)” which are revealed as you pilot your starship around the game.
Changes included in this version include 16-bit graphics, display of transparencies, hue tinting, thruster and laser “glowing” and a number of other features.
