Mac game publisher MacPlay, a subsidiary of United Developers, today announced a pleasant surprise for owners of its Mac conversion of the real time strategy game Sacrifice. The company today released a beta version of a patch that, at long last, enables multiplayer gaming capability.
Reiterating that the release is a beta version, MacPlay director of sales and marketing Henry Price added, “We chose to release this patch in beta form because we know how many people are eagerly awaiting multiplayer capabilities within Sacrifice.”
The new version, Sacrifice Multiplayer Beta 1, adds multiplayer support through GameRanger, the online Mac-only Mac game service. Minor speed and stability improvements have also been included. The LAN button is not active, however.
Although the multiplayer beta release is unsupported, MacPlay asks users to report bugs to its bugs@macplay.com e-mail address.
