Linker Systems has cut prices on its Animation Stand application — and restructured how the product is sold.
“We want to do our part in encouraging and supporting 2D animation as a unique form of art,” Sheldon Linker of
said. “As we care very much about the industry, and we have the luxury of being able to control the price point and features of Animation Stand, we’ve decided to sell only what is currently known as the Cinema Edition of Animation Stand, our unlimited-resolution version.”
As of today, they’re calling this version simply “Animation Stand” and are selling it for US$595. Now, you can work in any resolution you like (even 70mm or Imax) for “the lowest price of any top-end computer-assisted animation system,” Linker said.
If you already have Animation Stand Professional 4.4, you can upgrade to the new Animation Stand for $95. Earlier versions can be upgraded for $190.
Animation Stand Personal Edition and manuals will still be available for free by downloading it from the Linker Systems Web site, but will no longer be available for sale on CD.
Formerly, there were three versions of Animation Stand, aimed at different audiences:
The Professional Edition, with unlimited resolution, is priced at US$5,000 ($2,500 educational), and was aimed at the professional animation or special effects studio.
The Multimedia Edition, limited to resolutions of 512 x 384 pixels or less, is priced at $495, and was aimed at those producing industrial or educational animation, CD animation, and full-window Web animation.
The Personal Edition, limited to a 256 x 192 pixel resolution.
