MacsDesign Studio has released Web Help Desk 5.4, a Web application for technical support that’s designed for education and small to medium sized business customers. It’s built with WebObjects 5.1, Apple’s suite of tools and frameworks for developing Web applications for virtually any Java 2 Standard Edition (J2SE) or Java 2 Enterprise Edition (J2EE) capable server.

Web Help Desk offers a Web interface and a feature set targeted to both end users and support technicians. Version 5.4 includes enhancements to the user interface, a detailed Job History feature for tracking changes on a job ticket, additional search options for tickets and assets, and new preferences for managing custom fields and technician editing permissions
Web Help Desk uses Java objects to manage clients, assets and job tickets. And since it’s written in Java, it can run on any operating system with Java 2 SE installed, including Mac OS X.
Web Help Desk 5.4 is available now directly from MacsDesign Studio. Pricing for corporate customers ranges from US$3,000 to $7,500, while education/government pricing ranges from $2,000 to $5,000. Upgrades are free for all current Web Help Desk 5.x licensees. An online demo is available.
