MSN Messenger 2.1 released

Microsoft MSN Messenger 2.1, previously only available bundled on Microsoft’s Office v.X CD-ROM, is now available for download from Microsoft’s Web site.

MSN Messenger is an instant messaging client program that enables users to chat with friends, family and co-workers online. The software supports the ability for up to five people to chat simultaneously. MSN Messenger also notifies users when new e-mail arrives to their Hotmail account, as well as when new headlines are posted to MSN, Microsoft’s own online service.

Changes in MSN Messenger 2.1 include:

  • Fixed crash on network disconnect;
  • Fixed mobile return numbers lost when re-opening preferences dialog;
  • Fixed truncation of URLs when passed to the browser;
  • Added new emoticons

    • MSN Messenger 2.1 supports Mac OS 8.6 or later, including Mac OS X. To use the software, you’ll have to have access to the Internet and a Microsoft .NET Passport.
