Microsoft MSN Messenger 2.1, previously only available bundled on Microsoft’s Office v.X CD-ROM, is now available for download from Microsoft’s Web site.

MSN Messenger is an instant messaging client program that enables users to chat with friends, family and co-workers online. The software supports the ability for up to five people to chat simultaneously. MSN Messenger also notifies users when new e-mail arrives to their Hotmail account, as well as when new headlines are posted to MSN, Microsoft’s own online service.

MSN Messenger 2.1 supports Mac OS 8.6 or later, including Mac OS X. To use the software, you’ll have to have access to the Internet and a Microsoft .NET Passport.
