WiebeTech announced today that its DriveDock is shipping with new features. The device is a complete FireWire bridge interface created for IDE hard drives. Newly added is an even small, faster and better looking design, and support for IDE drives up to 160GB.

The DriveDock occupies three cubic inches of space. WiebeTech president James Wiebe explained that the device is popular with “power addicts,” service techs and other folks who want a speedy and cheap FireWire interface. “We believe these same users will benefit from even higher transfer rates, smaller physical size and higher capacity capability,” said Wiebe.
WiebeTech has benched the upgraded DriveDock at operating over 30MB per second. The drive interface uses the Oxford Semiconductor 911 FireWire bridge. The enclosure is made of anodized aluminum, and works with any 3.5 inch IDE hard drive up to 160GB.
WiebeTech sells the DriveDock directly for US$99.95, and offers an optional power supply for $29.95. The company welcomes dealer and OEM inquiries, too.
