According to the article, Apple is among a dozen new retailers to the area, all of whom are opening their first stores in the area. Other new retailers include women’s apparel company Coldwater Creek, sporting goods seller Galyan’s Trading Company, department store giant Nordstrom, and Steve Madden footwear.
The Des Peres-based West County Center was closed in late January for US$232 million redevelopment under the aegis of owners Westfield America Trust. The redevelopment will yield more than twice the original space as the mall used to have, and will be anchored by Nordstrom, Lord & Taylor, Famous-Barr and JCPenney, along with about 175 new specialty stores, Apple included. The owners say the renovations are on track for a formal reopening in mid-September.
