The folks at Zonic, a UK-based company that offers software development and consultancy services to companies with Macintosh needs, have released SwapTop 1.5, an update to their desktop picture management utility.
SwapTop lets Mac users set up a schedule to automatically choose a random desktop picture, to download new pictures from the Webshots network each day, as well as search online for new images. Version, 1.5 adds support for multiple monitors on Mac OS X, supports HFS+ long file names on Mac OS 9 or Mac OS X, and can now import any image format supported by QuickTime, according to Dair Grant of Zonic. It also includes a number of minor bug fixes and enhancements, such as switching to Carbon Events to reduce CPU (central processing unit) usage on Mac OS X and improving compatibility with the Webshots Web site, he added.
SwapTop costs US $15 shareware. Version 1.5 can be downloaded from Zonic’s Web site. SwapTop requires Mac OS 8.6 and CarbonLib 1.1, or later. For Mac OS X, you’ll need version 10.1 or later.
