Brian Dunning, a technical editor for FileMaker Pro Advisor magazine and a featured columnist for ISO FileMaker Magazine, is now offering cross platform Weblet Chat for Lasso and CDML databases at his Web site.

Weblets are small collections of format files and databases to, in Dunning’s words, “get you started building your own system.” Weblet Chat is a way to implement a fully functional online chat system in Lasso or CDML.
“It’s powerful enough to use as it is, but flexible and easy enough to modify and integrate into your existing Lasso or CDML Web site,” Dunning said. “Like all Weblets, it is provided fully open source.”
Weblet Chat provides a log-in interface and a floating, resizable chat window that you can add to your Web site. Parameters, such as the refresh rate, the number of messages to shown, how far back the history goes, etc., can be changed.
The application, which costs US$29, comes with: databases for FileMaker 4 and 5; fully commented format files for Lasso and CDML; and instructions. You’ll need to know about Lasso or CDML to make your own format files. However, the CDML Master Class and Lasso Master Class tutorials are also available at Dunning’s site.
